Mindfulness for Taking Charge of Your Thoughts

Mindfulness for Taking Charge of Your Thoughts

Thoughts, Observations & Guidelines:

Our lives depend on the kind of thoughts we nurture. Thoughts of kindness, humility, and peace bring us closer to God. When we focus on worldly concerns, we move towards inner turmoil and conflict. Our thoughts have the power to create both good and evil in our lives. Everything in the universe is a manifestation of God, and His thought, and God’s life resides within us. The influence of our thoughts extends beyond ourselves, affecting those around us, even the entire universe. By looking for peaceful and kind thoughts, we radiate tranquility and harmony. Destructive thoughts disrupt our inner stillness.

No One To Change But Self

Instead of trying to change others, we can start with ourselves. This self-focus leads to peace everywhere. Each of us is responsible for our future, and personal change is essential for our lives to bear good fruit. God’s commandments challenge us because they demand humility over ego. Praying for and blessing our enemies is vital for our own sake, fostering harmony in the world.

Desire Or Temptation?

Desires often come with temptations, serving as God’s warnings. Inner stillness is a state of grace where any kind of righteous desire is ours, as it should be, but craving removes this peace and diminishes God’s grace. In our minds, we conceive everything we do and say, and all our energy first manifests in our thoughts. With God’s grace, our thoughts become powerful. United with the Lord and filled with faith, the power of grace works within us. However, pride and offense diminish this divine power.

Reject Harmful Thoughts

To connect with the source of life, we have to cultivate a humble heart, embracing thoughts of peace and silence. Dispassionate thoughts, combined with vigilance, bring discipline to our minds. Avoid dwelling on every thought; reject fantasies and focus on the real and positive. Welcome positive desires with calm acceptance, trusting that God’s grace is sufficient. Recognize that evil within us is our responsibility. Reject harmful thoughts and preserve inner peace by guarding against negative inputs. Be mindful of what you watch, read, and listen to, as these shape your thoughts.

Where To Place Our Thoughts

Our breath is a gift from the Holy Spirit. By focusing our thoughts on our Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, we place ourselves in the best hands. Resting our minds in Jesus connects us with the source of our thoughts, moving from the mind to the heart. This heart-centered focus brings us to a place of true creation and divine connection.

Some Precautions:

Based on my observations as a coach working in trauma healing, as well as in sober living and detox, it’s clear that certain clients should avoid techniques involving some types of manifestation, and imaginal scenes or visualization. This includes:

  1. Individuals with a tenuous grasp on reality.
  2. Clients who already tend to fantasize excessively or daydream.
  3. Those who experience limerence (obsessive, often unreciprocated romantic fixation).
  4. Individuals who easily regress to past behaviors or emotional states.
  5. Clients with a history of psychological breakdowns.
  6. Those prone to delusional thinking.

For these clients, visualization techniques may reinforce unhealthy patterns or intensify their disconnection from reality, which could hinder their healing progress. Other approaches to healing should be explored with a healthcare professional.

The Change Paradox:

True change stems from full acceptance of one’s current state rather than trying to be something else. This concept ties closely to the paradox of transformation: change often happens naturally as we acknowledge and accept what already is, rather than forcing ourselves to adopt new, often superficial identities or behaviors.

In manifesting, spiritual bypassing can occur when people try to use toxic positivity or “higher vibrations” to avoid confronting uncomfortable truths or parts of themselves. This approach might look like attempting to “assume a new identity” or pretending to feel emotions that aren’t genuine.

Acceptance does not mean resignation, nor does it imply staying stuck. Instead, it opens a pathway to genuine change because it allows us to work with our reality rather than fight against it. By acknowledging where we are, we can shift our assumptions more authentically, embodying the qualities we wish to cultivate from a place of understanding, not avoidance.

Therefore, change happens through acceptance—not by struggling to become something different, but by allowing the process of inner transformation to unfold as a natural response to inner alignment and self-honesty.
