Exceptional massage begins with exceptional hands.

Massage in San Pedro

This is not a one-size-fits-all massage.

Some people arrive with a neck that has been tight for months. Some have sore legs after training. Some spend their working lives lifting, standing, driving, typing or repeating the same movement thousands of times. Some feel stiff everywhere. Some want lymphatic work. Some want serious pressure. And some simply want to lie down and completely let go.

Those are not the same massage.

The treatment should change because the person on the table changes.

That is where an experienced massage therapist makes an enormous difference. Alva and Pam are not limited to a single technique or memorized routine. They can move between approaches, adjust pressure, spend time where the body needs it and create a session around the individual.

Our Massage Team

Meet Alva & Pam.

Two outstanding massage therapists. Two different sets of hands. An extraordinary range of bodywork.

We are exceptionally fortunate to have both of them at Coastal Wellness Studio. Their value is not simply that they know a long list of massage techniques. It is that they know how to use them.

Experienced hands notice things. Where tissue feels guarded. Where pressure should increase. Where it should not. When an area needs focused work and when the entire nervous system needs the session to slow down.

Alva
Massage Therapist · Coastal Wellness Studio

Skilled, intuitive and adaptable, Alva brings a broad range of massage and bodywork techniques into sessions that can be focused, restorative, deeply relaxing or highly targeted according to the client’s needs.

Pam
Massage Therapist · Coastal Wellness Studio

Pam brings the same level of versatility and individualized attention to the table, with the experience to move seamlessly between relaxation, deeper therapeutic work and focused treatment of areas carrying significant tension.

What Experience Changes
Knowing a technique and knowing what a body needs are two different things.

A massage can follow a routine from beginning to end. Or it can respond to what the therapist is actually finding under her hands.

The second requires experience.

Pressure can change. Pace can change. Positioning can change. Techniques can change. More time can be spent on the area that needs it and less time where it doesn’t.

The result is a session that feels like it was actually created for you.

Massage & Bodywork

From deeply relaxing to highly targeted.

Your session may draw from several approaches rather than fitting neatly into one category.

01

Therapeutic Massage

Individualized hands-on work directed toward areas of muscular tension, stiffness, soreness and physical stress.

02

Deep Tissue

Slower, more focused work with greater pressure when deeper muscular structures and persistent areas of tension need attention.

03

Relaxation Massage

A quieter, flowing session for clients who need to decompress, settle down and experience the restorative side of skilled touch.

04

Lymphatic Drainage

Gentle, directional techniques designed around lymphatic movement and a very different intention from traditional deep massage.

05

Myofascial Work

Focused soft-tissue techniques can be incorporated when restriction and tension call for a different approach than conventional massage strokes alone.

06

Cupping

Vacuum cupping can be incorporated into bodywork to provide another way of working with soft tissue and muscular tension.

07

Sports & Recovery Massage

Bodywork for active clients, athletes and anyone whose body is regularly asked to perform, train, lift or recover.

08

Focused Problem Areas

Neck and shoulders. Upper back. Low back. Hips. Glutes. Legs. Calves. Feet. Forearms and hands. The session can concentrate where you actually need it.

09

Integrated Bodywork

Techniques can be combined within the same session when more than one approach makes sense.

Your Session

You do not have to know what kind of massage you need.

Tell us what is going on.

Tell your therapist where you are tight, where you are sore, what you do all day, how much pressure you like, whether you have been training, whether you have been stressed and what you want to feel like when you leave.

Then let experience take over.

A session may include:

Swedish massage
Deep tissue work
Lymphatic techniques
Myofascial work
Targeted muscle work
Cupping
Stretching
Relaxation work
A Coastal Wellness Favorite
O3 Sauna + Massage

Ask us about combining your massage with an O3 sauna session.

There is something completely different about moving from the warmth of the O3 sauna into skilled hands-on bodywork.

For clients who love recovery treatments, want to unwind deeply, or simply want to turn an ordinary massage appointment into a more complete wellness experience, the combination has become one of our favorite ways to structure a session.

It pairs especially well with lymphatic drainage massage when that is the type of bodywork selected for the appointment.

Sauna first. Massage after. Give your body time to stop doing everything else.
Lymphatic Drainage
Not every effective massage needs to be deep.

Lymphatic drainage is a specialized style of bodywork using lighter, directional techniques rather than the pressure associated with deep-tissue massage.

For clients accustomed to thinking that stronger pressure automatically means better massage, lymphatic work can feel surprisingly different.

It is also one of the modalities that makes the breadth of our massage team particularly valuable: the therapist can choose a technique based on the purpose of the session rather than treating every body the same way.

Athletes · Active Bodies · Physical Work

Your body does not care whether the workload came from a gym or a job.

Training is physical stress. So is spending an entire day on your feet. So is repetitive lifting, working overhead, gripping, carrying, driving, typing, playing an instrument or performing the same movement hundreds of times.

Recovery matters for people who train hard — and for people who work hard.

Massage can be tailored around the muscles and movement patterns carrying that workload, whether the goal is recovery after training, attention to chronically tight areas or simply helping an overworked body feel better.

And Sometimes…
You don’t need a problem to deserve a massage.

Massage does not always need to be corrective, intense or goal-driven.

Sometimes you want warmth, quiet, skilled hands and an hour in which nobody needs anything from you.

That is a perfectly good reason to book.

More at Coastal Wellness

Massage can stand alone. Or it can become part of something larger.

Because massage is offered inside Coastal Wellness Studio, clients also have access to complementary recovery and wellness services.

Massage + O3 Sauna

Create a longer recovery and relaxation experience by combining sauna and hands-on bodywork.

Massage + Acupuncture

Massage can complement acupuncture or electroacupuncture with Dr. Anna Bäck for pain, tension, overuse and recovery.

Massage + Cupping

Cupping may be incorporated into bodywork or coordinated with other treatments depending on the client’s needs.

Why Coastal Wellness?
Because the therapist matters.

A beautiful room is nice. A heated table is nice. Music, linens and atmosphere matter.

But none of those things can replace the person actually doing the massage.

That is why we are so proud of this part of Coastal Wellness.

Alva and Pam bring the versatility to work differently with different bodies and the experience to know when to change what they are doing.

Whether you want serious bodywork, athletic recovery, lymphatic drainage, focused attention to a stubborn area or an exceptionally good relaxation massage, you are in very capable hands.

Massage Therapy FAQ

Before your appointment.

What type of massage should I book?

You do not need to diagnose your own bodywork needs before arriving. Tell us what you want from the session and discuss pressure, problem areas and preferences with your therapist.

Can the therapist work primarily on one area?

Yes. Sessions can be adapted when the neck, shoulders, back, hips, legs or another region needs more attention.

Do you offer deep tissue massage?

Yes. Pressure and technique can be adjusted according to your preferences and the purpose of the session.

Do you offer lymphatic drainage massage?

Yes. Lymphatic work uses a lighter and more directional approach than conventional deep-tissue massage.

Can massage and cupping be combined?

Yes. Cupping may be incorporated when it fits the goals of the session.

Can I combine massage with the O3 sauna?

Yes. Ask us about scheduling the O3 sauna before your massage, including before lymphatic drainage bodywork.

Is massage only for pain?

No. Clients also book massage for recovery, relaxation, muscular tension, physical workload, athletic activity and simply because excellent massage feels wonderful.
