Understanding Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal Theory explains how our nervous system responds to safety and stress. It consists of three parts: social engagement, fight or flight, and freeze or shut down. Trauma can cause the system to get stuck, leading to anxiety and disconnection. Healing involves creating safety, connecting with others, and regulating emotions through techniques like deep breathing and grounding exercises.
